Grumpy’s – Best Resturant in Nazca

Hey Guys,

First off, Grumpy’s is the best resturant in Peru. Yes, I know the apostrophe shouldn’t be there, its just part of the name.

If your not sure yourself, just ask to read the comment book, which sings praises in multiple languages.

Grumpys isn’t in the Lonely planet, but then again the current edition is over two years old. Great hamburgers for 5 soles, a Killer spaghetti bolognaise for 12 soles, and the fruit juices are, well, yummie. In one case, when we asked for a zumo de pina, Grumpy went to the market, bought a pineapple, and made our drinks with it. yummmmmie.

There are generally three sorts of comments in his comment book.
1) Grumpy’s is the best resturant in Peru.
2) Don’t stay at Hostel Estrella de Sur.
3) Don’t eat breakfast before taking a flight over the Nazca lines, as you’ll throw up.

Geraldine and I took some Marzine before our flight, and I can say personally that it worked, as I was defintly feeling nauseous after all those steep turns.

Catching an overnight bus to Arequipa tonight at 10:30 pm. Paid 80 Soles for a Royal Class trip with OrmeƱo. Supposedly they are lie flat beds. Lets hope.

Oh, and if you want to take photos of the Nazca Lines, a point and click is fine. But for you SLR freaks out there, a 75 to 200mm zoom lens will fit all the shapes fine (I used a 100-300 with a DSLR with 1.6 crop factor, and really needed a 75-300).

Sorry, no photos today, as I don’t have a card reader. Maybe later.

(Edit: Found better resturants, so renamed to best resturant in Nazca)

Max, your tales of the Nazca lines and Marzine (urgg..arrggg…childhood car trip memories) are doing no good for my “enfermedad de los celos”.

By the way sometimes they leave the best ‘finds’ out of loney planet so they don’t get swamped and ruined by people with millions of pesos…

So you felt nauseous even with the drugs … I wonder what would have happened had you not taken them.
